Poynton & District Rotary Club, President Peter Kay, attended the “Civic Service” at St George’s, Poynton’s Parish Church on Sunday 21st July 2019. Mayor of Poynton-with-Worth Town Council Sarah-Jane Gilmore read the first bible reading, after having outlined her commitment to Charitable fund raising for the coming year.
Rt. Hon. David Rutley MP read the second lesson. The local officials were also joined by the Mayor of Cheshire East together with representatives from other local Councils. Peter Kay is on the right of the photograph.
This was followed by a reception at the Civic Hall, with leaders of all Poynton’s local voluntary and other community organisations attending. The Mayor presented the Civic Awards and the Youth Civic Awards.
Rotarian, Di Penny received an award from the Mayor, for all her hard work and involvment with the Poynton Heritage Garden project. Poynton Rotary has also provided some financial support for this garden. The heritage garden is situated next to Poynton Library and the Civic Centre.

The Poynton Golden Memories group, who have also received support from Poynton Rotary, were given an award for all their hard work helping people with dementia.
Gerald Scriven (on the picture) has also been a long standing member of Poynton Rotary.
